Some of my experience

With over thirty years of nonprofit experience, I support organizations with strategic planning, organizational development, leadership coaching, group facilitation, and racial equity and anti-racism work. I identify as a Black, cisgender lesbian recognizing the importance of creating space for people to name their identities and lived experiences.

My coaching is primarily with new managers, as well as seasoned executives, who face challenges when leading during times of change. For leaders who are intentional about leading with empathy and equity, I hold space for their vulnerability and action planning. I support my coaching client partners with acceptance, grace and space to support their reflection and ability to tap into their internal wisdom. I value slowing down, self-care, centering the person and honoring their experience. I value compassion and care while also guiding with a focus on taking action, even if it's a small step or - the action to rest and take no action. My coaching client partners can expect me to curated personalized content and resources for them, to check-in and support them in achieving their goals.

For leaders who wonder how to show up as their natural selves, for people of color who may also be part of LGTBQ communities, I offer coaching to support their well-being and success.

Having served as the chief human resources officer at Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the VP of Talent at the Food Bank For New York City, I can relate to being in a leadership position and needing support in a high pressure, fast-paced environment.

Why I do what I do

During those same years is when I bonded with my co-workers, a team representing difference across just about every dimension– a team that grew to trust and support each other as we delivered, or sometimes created, new services for our clients coping with drug addiction and HIV/AIDS. I learned that my intersecting identities as a Black, cis-gender, lesbian would be the source of my inspiration to be of service to others.

I have integrated these experiences, the feeling of being seen, supported, challenged and mentored, into my coaching practice. My mission is to help others achieve success as leaders  - whether a recently promoted manager, or a seasoned executive seeking to build trust and get results with their team.

What the letters after my name mean

I am certified as a Wiley Everything DiSC Workplace Facilitator, a Senior Certified Professional with the Society for Human Resource Management, and certified in the Clark Wilson 360 Feedback Survey. My certification as an Energy Leadership Index – Master Practitioner (ELI-MP) is with the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). I use Energy Leadership Coaching to support you in identifying what you really want for your life. I was born to adolescent parents in a small, redlined Black community on Long Island and was the first in my family to go to college. So, the bachelor of arts degree in psychology from The Johns Hopkins University and the master of social work degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook are tributes to my family and mentors who believed in me.
